  • There’s a storm brewing in Nagatacho

Posted by Matt Dioguardi on September 29th, 2007

Tobias Harris observes that a storm of legislation is headed to Nagatachō at Observing Japan.

This is a must read post. Here is the link.

It sounds like the DPJ are going to submit every bit of (reform?) legislation they’ve had on the back burner ever since when to the Diet this upcoming session.

The Japan Oberver sounds perhaps a little equivocal on whether he feels this is a good idea or not, pointing out all possible consequences including negative ones.

I say, wow! Fantastic! Full steam ahead! Give it all you got!

You hear it again and again that the DPJ are the “hantai” party, meaning all they do is oppose things. Here’s a chance for them to break away from that image and show what they’d like to do for Japan.

I think this is a very smart move. My personal opinion is people will respond to this positively, and it will throw the LDP off balance.
