… a group of people are attempting to elevate Ron Paul’s status as a candidate by simultaneously donating $100 on the same day. Their goal is the get 100,000 people total, which would mean a $10,000,000 combined donation.
So far they have nearly 11,700 people who have pledged.
I think it terms of supporters who are sincerely passionate about their candidate, Ron Paul must be leading the pack.
Is it actually even possible to be passionate about any of the other front runners in the US presidential primaries?
Certainly the Internet is changing the whole dynamics of the election. A passionate following on the Internet translates into cash. Cash translates into money for advertising. Advertising translates into name recognition. Name recognition translates into more support …

A lot of the people on the left who are just discovering libertarianism and falling in love with Ron Paul are gonna be disappointed when they look a bit more closely at him. Two of the issues that will turn a lot of people away from him are abortion and his desire to dismantle federal funding for public education. Right now all people are hearing is “bring the troops home now!” but later they will be cringing as they hear Paul explain his stance on things like medicare.

You might be right. It will be interesting to see what happens.
I’ve been interested in Austrian economics long before I knew anything about Ron Paul. You know, I didn’t ever think I’d get to see someone on the Tonight Show discussing Austrian economics. (This happened the other day when Ron Paul appeared as a guest.) Incredible. Awesome.
In my book, Paul has already accomplished a lot. He has my support, 100%, even if I don’t agree with him on every issue. I hope he goes much further.
