Love dolls in Japan

Update: I should have noted that this isn’t really a Japanese story. We’re given no reason to think that this phenomena is any bigger in Japan than elsewhere. For example, here’s a link to a very disturbing guy in America who also prefers love dolls to real women.
Here’s a fairly disturbing video about love dolls in Japan …
If you’d like to watch something even more disturbing, then you can watch a Japanese fan video dedicated to love dolls by clicking here.
I strongly believe it is a person’s own choice in matters such as this. If a person wants a love doll, then whatever. I am categorically against laws that stop people from taking part in actions that harm no one. If this includes owning love dolls, then so be it.
However, on a personal basis only, and speaking as a falibilist, I find love dolls grotesque and repugnant for at least three reasons.
- Well, just look at them. They’re pretty disgusting, aren’t they?
- I oppose the objectification of a women’s body in such a way. Listen to what the guy had to say in the interview, “a human girl can cheat on you, or betray you sometimes, but these dolls never do those things, they belong to me 100%.” He’s basically describing what would be his ideal relationship with a woman. To basically own her body 100%. Pretty horrific if you ask me.
- It’s completely sterile. Life is chaos and flux. Life is the spontaneous and unexpected. Life is getting hurt sometimes, and then trying again. Life is kids and the next generation. I could go on in this vein, but perhaps you get my point already.
What do others think?
